EDN 2008 Microprocessor Directory
Welcome to the 35th annual EDN microprocessor/microcontroller directory.
Once again, the companies and devices in the directory continue to evolve and grow in number.

EDN Microprocessor/Microcontroller Directory
The EDN Microprocessor/Microcontroller directory details hundreds of devices and cores from more than 60 vendors.
With extensive written descriptions of processor families, voluminous specification tables, and block diagrams, the directory aims to provide designers and system architects with enough visibility into processor options to quickly narrow the list of candidate processors for each project.

Understanding the Microprocessor
I've been writing on CPU technology here at Ars for almost five years now, and during that time I've done my best to communicate computing concepts in as plain and accessible a manner as possible while still retaining some level of technical sophistication.
Without exception, though, all of my CPU articles have been oriented towards the investigation of technologies currently on the market. . .

A Guide to High-Speed Embedded Processors (Paid Report)
The number of markets for high-speed processors continues to grow.
In networking alone, these speedy chips are needed for complex functions such as intrusion detection and other security functions, storage management, router control plane, and networking services.
Consumer devices such as set-top boxes, HDTV receivers, and automobile navigation systems also need high-performance CPUs, as do high-speed printers, thin clients, kiosks,...

CPU World
I started collecting microprocessors in February 2002.
At the time I wanted to get a few Intel x86 processors just to hang them on the wall, and I bought a few processors from eBay.
Then I bought more... And then some... When the collection got relatively big I decided to create a website with pictures of all of the chips I have.
Looking just at the pictures is not a lot of fun, so I started adding descriptions to the chips.
Now my...
