Embedded PowerPC / Power Architecture - News from AMCC

Dan Bouvier, Processor CTO, AMCC, discusses new trends in the PowerPC / Power Architecture especially with respect to "reference kits" now available in the telecom/networking space for standards like AdvancedMC and MicroTCA based on AMCC
's 460GT processor.
In addition, he details their PowerPC 460GTx which offers advanced features including Gigabit Ethernet ports with TCP/IP assist, 801.p- and q-compatible QoS, encryption/decryption engine, high-performance memory controller and high-speed I/O subsystem.
The company will also be hosting IEEE 802.1 and 802.3 interim meetings in January, 2009.
About Dan Bouvier:
Dan Bouvier is processor CTO of AMCC. He is responsible for evaluating long term embedded system processing trends and driving technology strategies for the corporation.
Prior to joining AMCC, Dan spent 9 years at Freescale Semiconductor/Motorola SPS where he was most recently Director of Advanced Processor Architecture.
During his tenure at Freescale, he led the architecture of high-performance PowerPC processor cores and PowerQUICC SoC platforms.
He was also a principal architect of the RapidIO Interconnect architecture for which he received EDN Innovator of the Year in 2001.
During his 20-year career, Dan was previously the lead system architect at Ross Technology developing SPARC microprocessors, was Chief Technologist for OptiPlex computers at Dell Computers, and developed advanced telephony systems for BNR Nortel.
Dan has a BSEE from Arizona State University and holds 11 patents.
